It's time to discover your strength and resilience.
I work with youth, adults, and older adults who are experiencing grief, loss, anxiety and overwhelming thought cycles.
My name is Malisa Morris, Mental Health Therapist. I am a Chinese Canadian (born in Saskatoon SK, and raised in Toronto ON), living on Treaty 6 land in Edmonton, AB. I offer therapy in Cantonese and English.
As a Registered Social Worker, I offer individual, couple, and family therapy. I specialize in grief counselling. I am here to collaborate with you in navigating challenges to move towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I believe that every individual possesses the inner strength and resilience needed to move through life's obstacles. It's common for people to get stuck in patterns of thinking and feeling that slow you down.
My role is to provide support and guidance to help individuals gain a better understanding of themselves. My goal is to extend empathy and compassion to each individual, ensuring they feel safe and validated.
I prioritize creating an environment where you can be fully accepted for who you are. In our interactions, I bring my authentic self and also a genuine curiosity about how your mind, body, and emotions connect, which can help you recognize your strengths and abilities.
I focus on the importance of trust in our relationship. I believe in normalizing and validating your unique experiences and journey. Together, we'll empower you to understand yourself and how you see the world. This process can lead to a greater sense of peace and well-being.
Drawing from my experience with somatic awareness, I integrate the body into our sessions to deepen the exploration of your experiences. I also bring practical strategies and tools to the table, aiming to help you resolve the symptoms that get in the way of your daily life. My approach centers on seeing and validating you as an individual first, and I would be honored to accompany you in finding your own way of healing.
More than just my work:
-
My favorite quote: “You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated.” -Maya Angelou
-
What brings you a sense of ease? Practicing yoga, spending quality time with my family at home, and seeing the growth and positive change in my clients brings me ease. These moments provide me with a deep sense of fulfillment and peace.

Something fun or interesting: I lived in 3 provinces - I was born in Saskatchewan, raised in Ontario and am now living in Alberta. I love to eat all fruits and vegetables (yes even bitter, sour and tasteless ones) unless it is poisonous. And lastly, I have 3 sons (1 set of twins).
If you feel that we may be a good fit, I offer a free 20 minute consultation, or you can book a first session online.
